My new side gig as a restaurant reviewer brought me to the heart of Greenwich village last week to dine at OneGin, a Russian Fusion restaurant. I have no affinity with Russian culture. However, as someone who loves exploring different cuisines, I gladly accepted the invitation. The restaurant has a beautiful and luxurious decor and quite a decadent atmosphere. I felt right at home.

The interior
OneGin’s menu is interesting, including drink options. Why? Their vodka is house-made. Secondly, they serve a wide variety of unique flavors like ginger infused vodka. Drinks (on the house) were flowing abundantly. I’m surprised I can still remember this much lol.

Blueberry infused vodka
Back to the menu. What makes OneGin’s dishes unique is a wining combination of ingredients and flavors resulting in new and delicious flavor profiles. For instance, I would have never put crepes, caviar, sour cream, cured wild salmon and cucumber together. But it worked. Or fishcakes with a creamy bechamel sauce which was a successful pairing also. My entree was a simple, yet perfectly executed garlic roast chicken with a crispy, golden brown and fragrant skin served with baked potatoes. YUMMY.

Blini Rolls
After dinner, OneGin’s manager Noelle Birk came over to introduce herself and invited me to a private tasting event which took place a few days ago.
I was pretty excited to try out the rest of their menu and did so that evening while enjoying delicious sangrias and of course, vodka shots. Ever tried star anise infused vodka? Here you can.
Other dishes being served were fresh baked crepes, cheesecake mini pancakes —which I loved and I am not even a cheesecake fan, and meats; nugget sized chicken schnitzels and juicy herb encrusted beef tenderloin. Oh, and one of my new favorites: blini rolls. New connections were made that evening and I returned home with a satisfied belly.
Go check out OneGin and tell Noelle The Style Broker sent you.
